What to consider when selecting your brand’s colour palette.
Finding your style.
When working on building out a visual brand it is easy to fall into the trap of making a few mistakes:
Not setting a colour palette and just using whatever looks nice at the time.
Choosing your favorite colours whether it is a fit for your brand or not
Following colour trends that may not actually be relevant to your brands message or purpose.
No one wants to be put off by their own brand and so, yes you want to choose colours that you love and are happy with. Especially because you have to stick to them for some time. However, there needs to be a significant amount of thought put into it rather than simply choosing what takes your fancy in the moment.
Injecting your authentic message into your brand.
In todays post I wanted to revisit my personal styling times (well, kinda…) and talk about branding through the lense of a stylist. When I was working as a fashion stylist, I worked closely with women who often felt as though they either lost or never had a grasp on their personal style. This made building a wardrobe not only difficult but even discouraging and definitely not the enjoyable experience I believe it should be. Many of them had a number of tend based pieces sitting in their wardrobe that their interest in faded along with the trend. The same goes when building a brand.
5 Tips to help you write from your heart.
If you’ve spent enough time here, you’ll know that what really makes my soul sing is creating yummy visuals! As you can imagine when I set out to design my own brand I was itching to get onto pinterest and gather beautiful imagery to inspire my business visuals. I was ready to immerse myself in all things mood board. However this enthusiasm I am sure many of you share with me, needs to be grounded in an understanding of your brands story and message. When you rush into visual branding without first considering your underlying message you may be forfeiting the very thing you are setting out to do. Creating an identity.
In the pursuit of running an authentic business that makes your soul sing, writing is an invaluable tool that can see your clients and customers biting and the bit for more - it just takes a little heart. Have you ever read something that just struck a chord with you? Gave you a surge of inspiration? Made you hungry to learn more? and wonder how you could possibly be a part of what they do? That kind of pull you experienced comes from heartfelt writing.
