Get what you want!

Hello beautiful soul!

Welcome to the Get What You Want Guide!

My name is Lillian and like you, I am a BIG dreamer and I set goals just as BIG. When we set big goals and take an active role in creating our dream life - sometimes things can get a little messy!

It might be that we get overwhelmed by the size of the goal It might be that we don’t know where to start. It might be that we are too focused on the problem rather than the solution

Whatever it is for you, I want to share with you what I like to call the Get What You Want Method. This method isn’t something that I pulled out of nowhere, it's actually a research-backed method that increases the likelihood of you ACTUALLY achieving your goals!

It reduces overwhelm. It helps you develop an action plan. AND, it works alongside both your conscious and subconscious mind!

How do you approach desired change right now?

When we are wanting to create some kind of change in our life, many of us frame from a negative perspective,

  • What’s wrong?

  • Why do I have this problem? and How long have I had it?

  • How does this limit me?

  • What does this problem stop me from doing?

  • Who’s fault is it that I have this problem?

  • When was the worst time I experienced this problem?

But let’s be honest, when we frame the changes we want to make in this way, we are setting ourselves up for massive failure!

Firstly, it’s important to understand that our subconscious mind is responsible for about 95% of our decision making each day. 95%! Crazy, I know. And so if your subconscious mind isn’t really getting what changes we want to make in our lives it’s likely that many of our subconscious decisions are going to be the wrong ones!

By framing the changes in a negative way like this, you are basically giving your subconscious mixed messages about what it is you want.

You see, our subconscious mind doesn’t really understand negatives. So if you were to say “I don’t want to eat ice cream any more” Your subconscious is going to understand that as “I want to eat ice cream”. It’s like trying not to picture a purple elephant!

Not only that, framing the changes you want to make in your life in this way just leaves you feeling limited and stuck - a really difficult place to take action from!

 A method that actually works!

I am about to teach your a research proven method to framing your goals in such a way that it increases your likelihood of achieving them. In NLP we call this the Well Formed Outcome but I like to call it the ‘get what you want method’ because ultimately that’s what it helps you do. Rather than framing things negatively, he Get What You Want Method allows you to frame your goals in such a way that:

  1. Your subconscious knows exactly what you are wanting to call into your life. Meaning that all 95% of your decisions made by your subconscious are going to be in alignment with what you actually want. And…

  2. you will have an increased ability to consciously create an achievable action plan and level headedly deal with any roadblocks or challenges that will arise.

In brief, the Getting what you want method looks like this:

  • What specifically do you want?

  • How will you know when you’ve achieved what you want?

  • Under what circumstances, where, when and with whom do you to have this result?

  • What stops you from having your desired outcome already?

  • What resources will you need to help you create what you want?

  • How are you going to get there- and what’s the first step to begin to achieve this result.

 How to use this guide

I am about to take you through each of the questions in a little more detail. But before we begin, I want you to do two things:

Firstly, go and grab your journal, a fresh piece of paper or open a new word document - In order to understand the power of this process, I want you to go through it right here and now.

Secondly, I want you to pick a goal. Just one. I know you will probably have many goals, but for now I just want you to pick one. As I ask you each of the questions I want you to journal your answers as they relate to that one goal. Once you’ve done that, you can go through this process for all of your goals.

 What specifically do you want?

Simply stating what you want is no enough - you are going to want to dive right into the specifics. Why? Our subconscious minds are always looking for the simplest way to get what we want - that’s part of how it helps us conserve energy. Meaning, if you were to set the goal to make more money, the next time you found 5 dollars in your coat pocket your subconscious mind would consider goal achieved.

Finding 5 dollars in your pocket is way more effortless than what it would be if you had the goal to bring in an extra $1000 a month through your business.

Ask yourself:

what will I see, hear and feel when I get what I want?

In what area of my life do I want this outcome?

How will you know when you have it?

So now that you have refind your goal using the last question, this one will be easy to adress. This question invites you to create evidence, so that you know that you have achieved your goal or are at least making progress towards it.

Where, when and with whom do you want it?

Again, we are getting even clearer on the details of your goal!

What stops you from having your desired outcome already?

This question helps you determine two things - both are very important.

Firstly, it is going to help you uncover what your action steps might be. And secondly, it can help you uncover what limiting beliefs you might have around achieving your goal(Definitely go over and check out my journaling guide to learn more about what to do with your limiting beliefs).

What resources will you need to help you create what you want?

When answering this question, it’s easy to get caught up in the negatives and exploring all the resources you don’t yet have. That’s why I like to break this section into two:

What resources do you already have that will contribute to getting your outcome?

What additional resources will you need in order to get your outcome?

PS. by recourses, I don’t just mean books and online programs. I mean knowledge, time, experience, money, contacts, support, ect.

How are you going to get there?

Now is your time to develop an action plan and break it all down into actionable steps.

There a few ways that you can trip yourself up during this last question:

Firstly, making a plan whose success depends on just one way of doing something can be a recipe for disappointment. That’s why it is important to give yourself a range of options on how you might achieve your goal - this means creating flexibility and lots of choice in your action plan.

Secondly, there is the chance that too many tiny steps will create overwhelm and make it difficult to take any action at all.

to avoid this you will want to consider:

What are some manageable steps I can take to achieve my goal

What alternate steps can I consider?

What is the first step I will take?
